Conditions of Entry Assistants
General Conditions
The Professional Golfers’ Association Tournament Procedures as defined in Part 6 of the PGA Regulations are applicable. Your attention is drawn in particular to the following:
Tournament Rules Part 6B: 3.1. Association tournaments shall be governed by the Rules of Golf as published by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, the PGA Conditions of Competition and Local Rules card as well as the additional Local Rules for each event, save that certain alterations and additions that may be deemed necessary and stipulated from time to time by the Executive Committee.
The Nottinghamshire PGA Honorary Secretary is the Tournament Director as defined in the PGA Tournament Regulations Part 6B: 2.1.
The Notts PGA Committee has the sole right to interpret the Conditions of Competition and reserves the right to rescind, alter or add to them from time to time. Such interpretation to be final.
The Notts PGA will not be liable for:
(1) Any loss or damage to any property of members and/or amateur players who will be solely responsible for the safety of all of their property together with making full and proper insurance arrangements in respect of the same and;
(2) All and any loss or damage (including consequential or indirect loss) howsoever, whensoever or wheresoever arising save in respect of death or personal injury due to the negligence of Notts PGA.
Assistants Strokeplay Championship
1. The Entry qualifications for the Assistants Tournament will be Registered Trainees (T) and Category A Professionals (qualified 3 years or less). All PGA Members who are holders or previous holders of European Tour Cards Category 1 to 11 and / or Tournament Player Categories (TP)or a Europro Tour Ranking Category are excluded.
2. All PGA Assistants in the County of Nottingham (who qualify) will be invited to Enter the Assistants Strokeplay Championship – invitations will be distributed by the end of January each year.
3. PGA Assistants must ensure their Subscription to the Nottinghamshire PGA for the current year is paid before the Championship commences (failure to do so will result in their Entry being withdrawn).
4. All PGA Assistants / Registered Trainees wishing to withdraw their Entry are requested to advise the Honorary Secretary as early as possible and at the latest 7 days prior to the date of the Championship. Failure to do so will result in their Entry Fee being forfeited. Disciplinary action in line with PGA Regulations Part 6B: 12 is also applicable.
5. Amateur ‘Shop Assistants’ will be invited to fill any vacancies on the Start Sheet dependant upon:
Employment by the Golf Club or Club Professional and having been so for at least three months.
Employment as a ‘Shop Assistant’ must be as a preliminary to subsequently applying for PGA Registered Trainee status.
The Club Professional will be asked to sign their Entry Form as a ‘recommendation’ and to verify the above.
Handicap to be 6 or less. In the event of entries exceeding vacancies lower Handicaps take priority.
They will play off ‘scratch’ in the Assistants Tournament.
They will not be eligible to win the Trophy or to qualify for the Assistants Matchplay Championship.
They will be playing for a prize 'voucher' (to be spent in a Notts PGA Members shop) equivalent in value to a placing in the Assistants Strokeplay result listing.
6.The Final Result will be determined by the aggregate of both rounds. In the event of a tie first place will be decided by sudden death play-off commencing at the 1st Hole immediately after the conclusion of play. All other Ties - the prize money will be shared accordingly
7.Assistants Strokeplay - Prize Monies will be allocated for 1st to 10th places.
8.The Trophy will be presented at the conclusion of play.
9.All Assistants are expected to stay for the presentation (Jacket and Tie required).
Assistants Matchplay Championship
10.The Top 8 Assistant Professionals from the Notts PGA Assistants Strokeplay Championship qualify to play in the Notts PGA Assistants Matchplay Championship providing the remain eligible.
11. A Category A Professional (qualified 3 years or less) at the time of playing in the Assistants Strokeplay Championship will not be eligible to play if he is qualified over 3 years at the time of the Assistants Matchplay Championship
12.It is a Condition of Entry to the Assistants Strokeplay Championship that only in exceptional circumstances will a qualifier be permitted to withdraw from the Assistants Matchplay Championship. Your attention is drawn to the PGA Regulations Part 6B:12.
13.Prize Monies are allocated for 1st to 8th places.
14.The Rufford Park Trophy is ‘held’ for one year by the Champion and will be presented at the prize presentation following the Christmas Pro-Am.
Local Rules
15.The Tournament Conditions & Local Rules as published by the PGA will be applicable at each Championship.
16. The Local Rules in force at the Course being played will also be applicable at each Championship provided they do not conflict with PGA Tournament Rules.
Stipulated Round
17. Strokeplay Championship - 36 Hole (18-hole morning and 18-hole afternoon) played in two or three balls.
18. Matchplay Championship – 18 Holes in each Round.
19. Where weather conditions necessitate a change PGA Regulation Part 6B: 5 will be applied.
20. WPGA Members receive a yardage allowance – PGA Tournament Rules Part 6B: 14.
Start Times
21. Start Times will be published at the latest 10 days prior to the Championships.
22. Players are requested to collect their Scorecards 10 Minutes prior to their Start Time.
23.Time of Starting - Rule of Golf 6.3 and The Conditions of Competition & Local Rules as published by the PGA are applicable. Note - The Start Time as published determines any penalties.
24. In the Assistants Championship each Assistant will be required to mark the Score Card of another player in the same 'group'.
Assistants Order of Merit
25. Only Registered Trainees (T) or Category A Professionals (qualified 3 years or less) are eligible for Order of Merit Points earned at Championships and /or Pro Am's. Holders and previous holders of European Tour Cards Category 1 to 11 and / or Tournament Player Categories (TP) are excluded.
26. Order of Merit Points, on a basis determined by the County Committee, are allocated following the Assistants Strokeplay and Assistants Matchplay Tournaments. In the case of tied scores / placings the points are shared.
27. The above points are added to the Order of Merit Points allocated after each Pro Am to Assistants to determine each year the winner of the Assistants Order of Merit Trophy.
